The Fairfield Community Garden is a unique joint venture between Interact Learning Services and the Fairfield community. The garden will be run along similar lines to other community gardens where participating local residents can enjoy the garden at their leisure since it will be open access during daylight hours.

The motivation to develop a garden came from staff at Interact Learning Services, a disability day centre adjacent to the garden. It stems from knowledge that gardening is an enjoyable and feasible activity to many people who have a disability. With this in mind, plans for the garden have been developed around accessibility for all and will provide a special focus to aid in sensory stimulation and development. Gardening will bring the community and those with a disability together, rather than perpetuate their segregation.
